Data Protection & Privacy Standards
How Inventory Thingy collects, uses, and isolates data across workspaces.

1Information We Collect

Account & Member Data

• Email and profile info (via SSO providers or email/password signup).

• Workspace names and co-worker invitations.

• User attribution attached to item actions.

Inventory & Timeline Content

• Furniture items, descriptions, condition status.

• Location logs (Warehouse Bay, Truck, Project Set).

• Photos uploaded during intake/inspection.

Camera Access for Phone-First Scanning

The Service requests browser permission to access your device camera solely to scan QR tags in real time. Camera frames are processed locally in browser memory and are never recorded or saved to external servers.

2How We Use Your Data

  • Core Inventory Tracking: Generating unique QR tags, updating item locations, and logging condition changes.
  • Workspace Isolation: Keeping staging inventories isolated between teams via workspace boundaries.
  • Audit Timelines: Attributing check-outs, relocations, and repairs to specific team members for job accountability.

3Single Sign-On (SSO) & Third-Party Login

Inventory Thingy lets you sign in with a third-party identity provider such as Google (via Clerk) instead of creating a separate password. SSO is used for one thing only: verifying your identity so you can access the Service. We do not use it for tracking, advertising, or any other purpose.

What we receive from the provider
  • Email address — used as your unique account identifier and for workspace invitations.
  • Display name — shown on your profile and item activity attribution.
  • Profile photo (if you allow it) — displayed alongside your name.

We never receive or store your provider password, and we cannot read, post to, or modify anything else in your Google (or other provider) account. You may revoke access at any time from your provider's account settings, and you can switch to email/password login or remove the connection in your Inventory Thingy account settings.

4Data Sharing & Privacy Protections

No Sale of Personal DataWe never sell, rent, or trade your workspace records or photos to advertising networks.
Workspace Boundary ControlsInventory logs are restricted to authenticated members who join your explicit workspace.
